The Xanali were a subterranean species of people on the planet Nalan. Histories state that this race was sustained by high-heat environments, and it was not uncommon to find their cities on or within great volcanic calderas. Fossils and archaeological findings seem to support historical writings, and the Dead City of Nisholuh is a prime example of their building methods and locations.

This species was noted for wide ranges of purple skin tones with stripes and dots of vibrant blue. Their bodies were composed of a torso, head, six limbs, and a prehensile tail. Their four upper limbs were used for interaction with others and general tool use, but the lower pair had great hardened fusings of bone that allowed for powerful blows and stonework. The lower limbs served a primary purpose of locomotion such as walking, running, swimming, and jumping. Their tails were usually as long as the adult would be tall and no thicker than the circumference of an adult's wrist.

Xanali were mostly hairless, but did grow clumps of scaly chitin atop their heads in dark reds, oranges, and purple.
